Chronicle
A genre of writing characterized by short texts.
With simple language, it is influenced by everyday events.
A broken elevator.
The neighbor’s parrot that speaks “Portunhol”
A dentist appointment.
The daily and punctual whistle of the knife sharpener.
An everyday event, even trivial, turns into a story that can make you cry, feel emotional, or laugh.
Chronic. A lifelong health condition.
Like diabetes.
With continuous treatment, it is influenced by everyday events.
A lunch with dessert.
Wednesday night soccer.
A bike fall.
The daily and punctual chatter of the jewelry vendor.
The difference is that in this everyday life, no event is trivial.
Everything you do or fail to do influences the outcome of your story.
Sad, emotional, dramatic, funny, happy.
It doesn’t matter.
Those who have diabetes write, in the way they can, with a different kind of pen, the best possible version of the story.
By the way, story?
No.
Chronicle.

After facing many challenges to receive the correct diagnosis and finally accept insulin, today she shares her journey of overcoming and teaches us that it is possible to live well with the condition, turning difficulties into strength.
“Eu comecei a ver que eu precisava viver com a diabetes e não para a diabetes”
Adriana de Carvalho Santos, 17 anos de diabetes tipo 1/LADA, que teve muitas dificuldades em aceitar o tratamento, e, hoje, ela vive plenamente com a condição:

“I began to see that I needed to live with diabetes and not for diabetes”

with diabetes and not for diabetes”

meet Adriana.

Imagine a time when a type 1 diabetes diagnosis meant a sentence of hopelessness. Life expectancy was only 6 months to 2 years, and the treatment consisted of an extremely restrictive diet.
Before 1921, this was the harsh reality – until a groundbreaking discovery changed everything.
In Canada, a group of scientists pushed the boundaries of medicine, facing countless obstacles, frustrations, and pivotal moments. They achieved a feat that would save millions of lives, including those already threatened by the disease.
This moment of inspiration not only changed the past but continues to redefine the present and shape the future.
Watch the film and dive into this extraordinary story.
